Moving to step 2 and beyond
The government have set dates for when the next stages can come into place. There will be at least 5 weeks between each step.
However, the we will only be able to move onto the next step(s) if:
- the plan to give people the coronavirus vaccine continues to go well
- the vaccine helps stop people getting very ill with coronavirus (e.g. less people need to go to hospital)
- the number of people with coronavirus isn’t getting too high
- there are not lots of new types of coronavirus.
